The Beningfield Garden Redesign project was a complete transformation of an existing
outdoor space, converting a largely unusable, waterlogged garden into a modern,
functional and beautifully zoned contemporary environment designed for relaxation,
entertaining and practical day-to-day living.
DD Services M&E Ltd managed and delivered the full redesign and installation process,
combining groundwork solutions, landscaping, electrical installations, lighting design
and outdoor entertainment integration to create a seamless outdoor living space
tailored to the client’s lifestyle.

What was once a heavily waterlogged and underutilised garden has been transformed
into a sophisticated, multi-functional outdoor living space with clearly defined zones,
modern finishes and integrated smart outdoor features — delivering both practical
improvements and a significant enhancement to the property’s overall appearance and
usability.
Groundworks & Drainage Solutions
One of the primary challenges of the project was resolving significant drainage and waterlogging issues across the existing garden area. Our team carried out extensive
groundwork and drainage improvements to stabilise and prepare the space for
redevelopment.
Works included:
• Installation of new drainage systems
• Ground preparation and levelling
• Removal of overgrown planting and existing materials
• Site clearance and redesign preparation
These essential structural improvements created the foundation for a long-lasting, low-
maintenance outdoor environment.
Electrical & Smart Outdoor Features
DD Services M&E Ltd designed and installed a full range of outdoor electrical and
entertainment solutions to enhance both functionality and atmosphere throughout the
garden.
Installations included:

The lighting and audio systems were carefully integrated to create a premium outdoor
experience suitable for entertaining, relaxing and extending the usability of the space
into the evening.
DDS were instructed by the NHS Trust to supply and install a bespoke floor-mounted three-phase panel board system to support the site’s electrical power distribution requirements. The installation was designed and delivered to provide a robust, safe and fully accessible electrical infrastructure solution suitable for a demanding commercial healthcare environment.
The scope of works included the installation of a heavy-duty floor-mounted panel board complete with an integrated CT metering enclosure positioned at lower floor level to allow safe and practical access for utility metering, maintenance, testing and future inspection requirements. The main panel board was installed directly above the CT metering section, creating a compact and efficient distribution arrangement while maximising available plant space.
DDS also supplied and installed a dedicated side-mounted cable termination enclosure designed specifically for the termination of incoming AWA (Armoured Wire Armour) cables via top cable entry. Internal cable tray containment systems were incorporated within the enclosure to provide structured cable support, maintain correct bend radiuses, improve cable management and deliver a high-quality engineered finish throughout the installation.
As part of the electrical protection strategy, a dedicated Surge Protection Device (SPD) was installed within a separate adjacent enclosure and supplied directly from the main panel board via a 100A MCCB. This provides protection against transient overvoltages and voltage spikes, helping to safeguard sensitive electrical systems, downstream distribution equipment and connected plant.
The completed installation provides a total of 17 usable three-phase outgoing ways, offering substantial flexibility for future expansion, additional sub-main distributions and future mechanical and electrical service connections.
All installation, termination, testing and commissioning works were completed in accordance with current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and relevant industry standards, ensuring the system was fully tested, certified and safely commissioned prior to handover.
We were instructed by the client to carry out a full electrical infrastructure upgrade at the Radlett site, working in close coordination with UKPN to deliver an increased power capacity and new distribution arrangement to support both existing facilities and future operational demands.
The project involved upgrading the existing incoming electrical supply from a 100A three-phase and neutral (TPN) supply to a new 200A TPN mains supply, providing significantly increased capacity for the site. The works included liaison with UKPN for the incoming service alteration, coordination of shutdowns, supply changeover procedures and final energisation of the new installation.
As part of the upgrade, DDS installed a new 125A TPN sub-main supply to a newly constructed workshop unit complete with CT metering arrangement, allowing accurate monitoring and future scalability for the client’s electrical consumption requirements. The installation included new containment systems, sub-main cabling, distribution equipment and protective devices designed and installed in accordance with current BS7671 regulations and utility requirements.
Additional works included the full installation of lighting and power throughout the new workshop unit, incorporating energy-efficient LED lighting, socket outlets, local distribution boards and power supplies to support operational equipment and day-to-day workshop activities. All systems were fully tested, inspected and commissioned upon completion, ensuring a safe, compliant and reliable electrical installation ready for occupation and long-term use.
