DDS were instructed by the NHS Trust to supply and install a bespoke floor-mounted three-phase panel board system to support the site’s electrical power distribution requirements. The installation was designed and delivered to provide a robust, safe and fully accessible electrical infrastructure solution suitable for a demanding commercial healthcare environment.

The scope of works included the installation of a heavy-duty floor-mounted panel board complete with an integrated CT metering enclosure positioned at lower floor level to allow safe and practical access for utility metering, maintenance, testing and future inspection requirements. The main panel board was installed directly above the CT metering section, creating a compact and efficient distribution arrangement while maximising available plant space.

DDS also supplied and installed a dedicated side-mounted cable termination enclosure designed specifically for the termination of incoming AWA (Armoured Wire Armour) cables via top cable entry. Internal cable tray containment systems were incorporated within the enclosure to provide structured cable support, maintain correct bend radiuses, improve cable management and deliver a high-quality engineered finish throughout the installation.

As part of the electrical protection strategy, a dedicated Surge Protection Device (SPD) was installed within a separate adjacent enclosure and supplied directly from the main panel board via a 100A MCCB. This provides protection against transient overvoltages and voltage spikes, helping to safeguard sensitive electrical systems, downstream distribution equipment and connected plant.

The completed installation provides a total of 17 usable three-phase outgoing ways, offering substantial flexibility for future expansion, additional sub-main distributions and future mechanical and electrical service connections.

All installation, termination, testing and commissioning works were completed in accordance with current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and relevant industry standards, ensuring the system was fully tested, certified and safely commissioned prior to handover.
